At the Heart of Our Mission: Caring, Nurturing, and Giving
At the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties, we believe in three simple yet profound principles: caring, nurturing, and giving. These words take on even deeper meaning when a cancer diagnosis becomes part of your story or that of a loved one. Hearing those words, "You have cancer," can be overwhelming and frightening. The reality is undeniable—one in three women and one in two men will face cancer at some point in their lives. When that moment arrives, we want you to know that we are here to help.
As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties is dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents navigating the challenges of cancer. Our mission is to support our neighbors through vital screenings, educational initiatives, and direct services—ensuring that no one faces cancer alone. Every dollar raised stays right here in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, providing essential assistance to those in need. Our services are completely free of charge, as we do not receive reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, or any insurance providers.
Comprehensive Support for Cancer Fighters
We offer a wide range of critical supplies and services designed to ease the burdens of those battling cancer. From nutritional supplements to bras and breast prostheses, ostomy supplies, counseling, and home care essentials, we strive to meet every need with compassion and care. We provide wigs and hats for those experiencing hair loss, gas cards for transportation to treatments, funeral cost assistance, Foodshare boxes, and the loan of medical equipment like wheelchairs and walkers. These services are just a glimpse of the support we offer. We invite you to visit our website to learn more about how we’re making a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer in our community.
Raising Awareness and Promoting Education
Beyond providing direct assistance, we are committed to increasing cancer awareness and promoting education in our community. We understand that knowledge is power, and through our outreach efforts, we strive to inform and empower individuals with the tools they need to face cancer with strength and resilience.
A Legacy of Service, Compassion, and Commitment
Founded in 1967 as FACT (Fight Against Cancer Today), our organization has grown and evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of our community. In 1999, we adopted the name Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties to better reflect the full range of services we offer to those impacted by cancer.
Our work is driven by the belief that no one should face cancer alone. We proudly stand as a beacon of support and service, welcoming individuals from all walks of life, regardless of financial circumstances, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
