At the heart of the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties are three simple yet profound sentiments: caring, nurturing, and giving. These words resonate deeply when you or a loved one hears the daunting diagnosis, "You have cancer." The reality is stark—one in three women and one in two men will face cancer in their lifetime. When that moment arrives, we are here to help.
The Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents confronting the challenges of cancer. We strive to support our community through vital screenings, educational initiatives, and direct services. Importantly, every dollar raised stays right here in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties—ensuring that our neighbors receive the assistance they need. Our services are provided at no cost to clients, as we do not receive reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, or any insurance providers.
We offer a comprehensive array of critical supplies and services to those battling cancer. This includes nutritional supplements, bras and breast prostheses, ostomy supplies, counseling, home care essentials, wigs and hats, gas cards for transportation to treatments, funeral cost assistance, Foodshare boxes, and the loan of medical equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers. These examples represent just a fraction of the support we provide, and we encourage you to explore our website to learn more about all the ways we serve our community.
Beyond direct assistance, we are committed to community outreach aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of cancer. We believe that education is a powerful tool in the fight against this disease.
Originally organized in 1967 as FACT (Fight Against Cancer Today), the Cancer Association has evolved to meet the needs of our community while ensuring that no cancer patient is turned away, regardless of financial circumstances, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
In 1999, we adopted the name Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties, Inc. to better reflect the broad scope of our services.
Thank you for being part of our mission. Together, we can provide comfort, hope, and vital support to those facing cancer in our community.
